The saying is famous, but rings true: Time flies when you’re having fun. I started my internship with Go West Tours 5 months ago, but the time to say goodbye has come. There is one thing I can say for sure: it has been a blast! All the people I met and worked with and all the things I got to do combined to make for an amazing experience.
When I joined the company in February, it was still the middle of the high season. This meant that I was immediately put to use in the reservations department. It was a pretty hectic start, but it made for excellent learning and I appreciated the challenge of pulling my own weight from the start. My colleagues in reservations here were always ready and willing to help, and were always up for a laugh.
As the weeks passed by, the busy summer season slowly trickled to an end. Once there was little need for the extra pair of hands in reservations, I moved to the marketing team. Here I was assigned to a wide array of different tasks, ranging from updating our websites to keeping in touch with the local hotels. My co-workers here were always up for a fun chat, and often provided me with some good guidance.
Working for Go West Tours was an invaluable experience for me. For years I had been studying business, but finally getting the chance to turn that theory into practice was very enlightening. I gained a lot of insight into how everything is interconnected and what the things I’ve learned in university actually mean.
In the end, I want to thank everyone at Go West for giving me this opportunity. Everyone was very welcoming and always made sure to help me if I needed it, and I would not have come as far as I did without them. I have learned a lot from the experience and I wish everyone at Go West all the best for the future.
